NASA TV (formerly NASA Select) is the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's television channel (NASA). It is streamed on the Internet and is transmitted by satellite. NASA-created content is deemed a product of the United States government and is in the public domain, thus local cable television companies and amateur television repeaters may carry it at their discretion. Around the world, NASA TV is available through a variety of cable, satellite, and over-the-top media providers. In the early 1980s, the network was initially established to provide NASA administrators and engineers with real-time video of missions.
